Week 35 - May 27 - 31

It is the last week of May, folks. It is no secret that just five weeks remain in your grade 6 year. How do you plan to make the most of it?

Here is the plan for this week:

Math: expect a couple of sessions reviewing what we've done in our look at the area of parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids. There will be a quizzy on Wednesday. Then, we will turn our attention to classifying triangles. This involves measuring angles, so if you have a protractor, now is the time to find it.

Science: When we explored Newton's 3rd law, you observed and considered a handful of examples of action-reaction pairs. Your job was to keep your eyes peeled for other ways to demonstrate that for every action there is an opposite (and equal) reaction. You'll get your chance to show your thinking this week with a brief demonstration of your own.

Writing: The "Sandwich: Personified" task is now up on Classroom. These are fun! The job is to showcase your writer's Voice. Be sure to plan your recipe carefully, listing the ingredients as they are used, and using a variety of imperative verbs (stir, chop, mix, spread, blend, layer, fry, bake, boil, add, garnish, etc.). Keep in mind that your recipe should have a handful of character traits that could be used to describe the sandwich using extended personification. I look forward to reading (and maybe sampling?) the results.

CC Day letters go home on Thursday, and next Thursday, June 6th is CC Day.

That's all for this week. Enjoy!
