Week 13 - Nov 27 - Dec 1

Hi All! This is our 13th week together. Time is flying! Here is the plan for the week ahead:

Math - We'll apply our understanding of division this week as we explore "average" in problem-solving contexts, and we'll explore dividing money, time, and other data.

Language Arts - We have set The Boundless aside; unfortunately, there simply hasn't been enough time in our week for extended read-alouds. I'd like to honour the thinking and creativity you brought to the reading response activities you did: I'll have a look at the work you did for the early part of the book this week. During our library visit on Monday, you each borrowed a non-fiction book to read. During our quiet reading time throughout this week, I'd like you to continue to explore these books. We'll dig into what makes for a non-fiction book, and we'll identify some of the features these books have in common.

Writing - We began a short piece last week to further practice elements of the Organization writing trait. We'll work toward finishing that early this week, and hopefully begin creating a completely different kind of text later in the week.

Science - Thank-you for sharing with me your Body Systems unit. Most of you have demonstrated good organization of your work, and have followed through by completing the activites and ensuring these are accurate and legible. We will continue to build our brains this week. Quick, could you tell about the "lobe" of your brain most responsible for vision? Which part is most responsible for speech, hearing and your sense of smell?

A spirit day is coming to MMS on Friday this week! Look for items of clothing that feature animals (I've got socks that feature iconic Canadian rodents). Let's turn up for this one: any animal items earn entries for a class pizza party.

Enjoy your week, everyone!
