Week 11 - Nov 14 - 17

Can you believe we've already arrived at the middle of November? Is it true that time flies when you're having fun? Here is the plan for the week ahead:

Math: I'd like to check in with your learning about division concepts this week - how you deal with:

  • dividends that are multiples of 10, 100, 1000
  • divisors that are multiples of 10, 100
  • missing factor multiplication statements
  • grouping models of division
  • distribution models of division
  • divisibility rules
  • parts of a division statement
We'll also spend more time looking at strategies for division (like the partial quotients strategy), and how these can be useful for division problems that don't have neat and tidy round number solutions.

Language Arts: This week we will focus on identifying the problem in narrative. We'll also carry on with The Boundless, for which you should be close to completing reading response #3.

Writing: We'll tie up the brief "Dialogue Only" stories you began last week. Then, we'll shift our focus away from the writing trait of ideas, and begin exploring the trait of organization

Science: Our look at the central nervous system continues. The plan is to explore the parts of the brain, and we'll do a little test of our eidetic and short-term memory.

On Thursday, expect a brief letter about next week's Curriculum Completion day. Also, as I was off for a couple of days last week, the Daily Agenda had to take a little break, too. You'll see that it is back in action this week.

Enjoy your short week, folks!
