Week 8 - Oct 23 - 27

Hey there! We finally have a full five-day week to work with. Here are a few things I'd like us to accomplish:

Writing: The Spooky Story is due on Wednesday. Please be sure to review the following things before deciding that your tale is "done":

        1) Your story follows each of the task criteria. For a complete list of expectations, please see the Spooky Story page here on the blog.

        2) Your story begins with one of the five story starters.

        3) You have heeded the suggestions I wrote for your "First Write" mini-story (you received this feedback on Monday this week).

        4) Your story is ready to hand in on Wednesday. Missing this due date will mean you will need to complete the work at home.

        5) Practice reading your story aloud. Listen to how it sounds and make changes as needed. We will be sharing our tales in small groups next week. Don't let then be the first time you read your story!

Math: I have marked your quizzies from last week and returned them to you. I was super-impressed with your fluency with the multiplication strategies we have reviewed over the past few weeks. We'll move on immediately to a review of division, which is an area where many of you seem to have less confidence. I'm hoping to change that! Bring a growth mindset to upcoming numeracy work, folks. We'll get you there.

Science: Expect another session or two about the endocrine system this week. A handful of you have not yet turned in your stations "lab" sheet. If you are one of these, please resolve this asap. Everything you need to get this done is available on Classroom. Empty spaces in my gradebook are not great. Be sure that you get credit for the learning that you've done.

Reading: The Boundless has taken a back seat recently as we've been full-steam ahead on the Spooky Story task. We'll pick this up again this week, and we will begin a different reading response.

That's all for this week! Enjoy!
